GREEN SURROUND RESTORATION PROJECT

Help Us Restore The Bowler's Green Surrounds

Our bowling green is at the heart of Piha Bowling Club. It is used by our members, visiting clubs and bowlers throughout the season and is an important part of our community facilities.

The timber surrounds around the green have now deteriorated, with areas of rotten timber, damaged tiger turf and exposed nails creating an ongoing maintenance and safety issue.

We are seeking to raise $25,000 to complete the restoration of the green surrounds, with a little extra built into our target to provide contingency for any unforeseen costs during the project.

The Project Will Include:

  • Removal of the existing rotten timber surrounds and damaged tiger turf
  • Removal of exposed and redundant nails and other deteriorated materials
  • Installation of new H5-treated timber surrounds around the bowling green
  • Installation of new tiger turf to provide a clean, safe and finished perimeter
  • Making good the surrounding areas to create a more professional and functional environment for members, visiting clubs and spectators

Already Supported by Bowls Auckland

We are pleased to have Bowls Auckland supporting the project with a $5,000 contribution towards the repair of the green surrounds.

This support is an important step towards getting the project underway and recognises the value of maintaining and improving facilities for bowlers and the wider bowls community.

Generous Local Contribution

We have also secured a significant in-kind contribution, with H5-treated timber donated to Piha Bowling Club through Westhaven Marina by a local family.

This generous donation will help reduce the overall cost of the project and is a wonderful example of the support we have within our local community for The Bowler and its future.

With support already secured from Bowls Auckland and our local community, we are now looking for additional funding to help us reach our $25,000 project target.

Every contribution will help us complete the work properly and allow for any unforeseen costs that may arise during the project.

Improving the green surrounds will enhance the safety, presentation and functionality of the bowling green while helping protect this important community asset for many years to come.
